SO_TIMESTAMP - question on it's history, e.g., what is it's origin?

All I am sure of about SO_TIMESTAMP, is that it is not defined in /usr/include/sys/socket.h on AIX - and so I cannot package applications that require it?

I am curious about the history - because it is is POSIX based, AIX should have already have it. If it's history is "coming from Linux" - it probably should have it anyway (the L from way back when with AIX 5L).

But to open the discussion with IBM I would like some help - your site seems the most knowledgeable ( a search of wiki SO_TIMESTAMP did not show me the history I was hoping to find).

Wonderful site - only glanced at the FAQ - which I save into my PocketList for later reading.

Re: SO_TIMESTAMP - question on it's history, e.g., what is it's origin?

Thanks Rob.

I see I must be clearer - as I feared it was not POSIX. - was thinking, but did not type "if it is POSIX"

Unfortunately - for me, read a "packaging" I am trying to do, is that, atm, no SO_SOCKET seems to be a show-stopper for openntpd-6.0p1 to AIX. I needed someone "more informed" than I - to give that feedback to the openntpd project team.

Thanks again for your clear answer.

Michael

Should you ever have a question on AIX - do not hesitate to ask!
