Re: hallo admin

Ok, I did so...  However, I removed the inline image from your post, because it
seemed to be doing something very suspicious, and ended up prompting for a login
to some site...  This makes me suspect you're up to no good...  I haven't yet deleted
or banned you, though, in case it was just some mistake/problem...  Please post a
response explaining yourself soon, or one of us will likely take the ban-hammer to you...

Re: hallo admin

FWIW, many of the spam-bots I see in other forums are advertising world of warcraft virtual gold farming services.  So I have my suspicions here :^)

You're a better man than I am RobSeace.  I would have enjoyed how gold's virtual innards felt between my toes as I squished his or her virtual existence out of these forums.  Mmmm...  Virtual toe jam goodness.

Re: hallo admin

Same here. If someone makes an account and on the same day wants to change
their name, and has signature spam or posts anything suspicious, then that's
enough reason for bot obliteration.

Re: hallo admin

I wonder what the benefit of a name-change is to a spam-bot?

Or is the bot just randomly spewing out recycled posts from elsewhere?

Re: hallo admin

Yeah, that's kind of what I wondered...  It didn't really seem like a spam-bot tactic to
me...  And, they didn't have .sig spam, either...  What they did was post an inline
image as part of their post content, which was just a simple little image of a smiley
face, but apparently the host it grabbed it from did some kind of redirection or
something or other like that, because it also managed to pop-up a standard basic
auth login/password prompt for logging in to some site (some ".ru", I think it was)...
It seemed more cracker-like than spammer-like, if anything...  But, it was odd enough
that I thought I'd give the person (if it is one) a chance at explaining, anyway... *shrug*
It seems like they're not going to, though, I guess...

Not in this case, otherwise its username wouldn't match.

I guess the plan was that the admin who wanted to change the name would be
stupid enough to provide the admin username and password to that prompt, or
something like that.
