And, I'm back again... Nice relaxing vacation, but it's good to be back in civilization
again... (One of these days, I really have to force a real computer and Internet
connection on my grandmother, so I'll have access to it while I'm up there... ;-))

Hi everyone and happy new year.
i apologize for not having been there during christmas, but i had a car accident. I'm back to work now but i'm still waiting for the final results so i hope i'll be able to come here often.

You're nuts if you think you need to apologize for anything. Can as well speak in your voicemail message in advance before you die saying "Sorry for not calling you back, but I'm sort of dead".
Was it a nice car accident, or an ugly one?

That sucks... I hope you (and your car ;-)) are OK... And, yeah, like i3839 says,
there's nothing to apologize for! Hell, most of us just float in and out around here
when it's convenient for us, anyway... It's not like we're getting paid, and have to
justify our absences... ;-)
That's one good thing about living around here in a big city (and being able to work
from home helps, too): I have no need for driving anywhere anymore... I grew up in
the redneck backwoods of NH, and learned to drive on nearly barren back roads, so
I knew I didn't even want to try to handle driving down here in Boston anyway, so I
gave up the car as soon as I moved down here... I don't really miss it a bit... The
only time it's really a pain is when I travel up to NH on vacation; taking the bus that
far really sucks... But, just getting around locally when needed is no problem, with
the subway or buses going pretty much anywhere I'd ever need to go... Plus, I'm
free of the hassles that come with owning a car (insurance, inspections, regular
maintenance, buying gas, finding a nearby parking spot where it won't get towed,
worrying about it getting stolen, etc.)...

hehe thx guys,
it was an ugly one. we were driving on a straight road and my friend lost control of the car and we hit trees with the front of the car...if you wanna know what the car looks like, imagine a crash test when the car hit a wall, except that we were driving faster...it looks like this one: http://www.allopolice.net/accidents/div … rimera.jpg
i exploded the glovebow with my knees but the only real damages were my friend (the driver) that had some broken ribs and as for me i have a cervical straightness (but i'm waiting for other tests results).
Well i won't complain, we're very very lucky :-)

Does it have a passenger-side airbag? One accident I was in a long time ago as a
passenger, I was totally fine except for being nearly knocked unconscious by the
fucking airbag! ;-) It was a fairly minor accident (my friend took a turn WAY too fast,
ended up slipping and sliding into the curb, totally busting the front axle), but I just
remember immediately afterward feeling disoriented like I woke up from a short sleep,
and feeling like someone just punched me in the face, so I think it really did put me
out for a few seconds, at least... Not an experience I care to ever repeat... ;-)

LOL :-)

I'm off to NH again for a couple weeks, starting this Thursday...
I'll actually be hooking my grandmother up with a real computer (Asus Eee PC,
running Linux of course) and Internet connection while up there, so I might theoretically
be able to check in, but I don't know if I will or not... I'll probably be busy enough just
trying to explain the whole concept of a GUI and the web to my grandmother... ;-)
