How to develop apllications which can run comfortably both 32 bit and
64 bit environment.

I have come across the tool called "lint" and how this could be used in developing an application.Are there any macros available to add during compilation and link time to develop an application which can run successfully both in 32 and 64 bit environments.

There may be an option of compiler(-m32 for gcc)

Just don't assume that pointers and longs are 32 bit big and you should be mostly fine.
