Re: Solaris10 - kvm_open failed

Further analysis on the kvm_open call, we can able to capture the failure
reason for this as "smkvm: /dev/ksyms is not a 32-bit kernel namelist"

what could be the issue, how to set the kernel to run as 32-bit mode.

Thanks,

Sivakumar

Re: Solaris10 - kvm_open failed

To me it looks highly suspicious that something like xntpd needs /dev/ksyms. But I don't know Solaris, so maybe that's normal.

Re: Solaris10 - kvm_open failed

Thanks for your reply.

We have tried with a driver to print the error string of kvm_open call,
the error string displayed as

/dev/ksyms is not a 32-bit kernel namelist

Our system is running in 64 bit kernel mode, how to make this particular process alone to run in 32 bit kernel namelist or this device.

Any suggestion on this is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Shiva

Re: Solaris10 - kvm_open failed

I've no idea, and suspect others here don't know either (anyone?). It's probably best to contact Solaris or xntpd support for this question, they should know.
