Re: Get CDROM metric information with Java is possible?

Good Night,

I need a source code example (commented should be good :) that show how to extract metric information from a CD in a CDROM drive.

Information I want to extract:

- CD media size (the most precise possible, 1byte or 1 nible of precision make difference for me).

- CD space used (need to be precise too).

- Number of tracks and layout of disc.

- Size and information of header CD track.

ps: I need it work in Windows and Linux..

Do you know if it's possible in Java? If not in pure Java, can be done with JNI?

Thank you a lot,

Regards,

Re: Get CDROM metric information with Java is possible?

So you did post here... I could have sworn that last time I looked there were responses so didn't even bother to read the message... :-/

Bad news... as far as I know, there is no method available to do that in Java... since it requires opening the lower level device and sending it commands directly...

Good news... you can do it in C etc. and then wrap it via JNI...

While I haven't done anything of the sort recently, I did look thru some existing source code from other people's projects and posted some info in the C programming section...

Hope that helps...

Michael
