Re: Login not remembered with Mozilla

This might not be a bug per-se, but when I return to the forums after logging in, I have to log in again. Is this normal? Is this how the forums are configured? Or is it just a Mozilla thing? I'm running Windows 2k by the way.

Thanks

Re: Login not remembered with Mozilla

Yeah, I just started seeing the same thing, myself...  It's getting
highly annoying... ;-/  But, it just barely started happening, within
the past week or so...  It used to remember logins just fine, but now
it does not...  Ugh...

Ok, Loco, Michael, Vic, which one of you screwed with something?? ;-)

Re: Login not remembered with Mozilla

The truth is that the site was totally *EDIT START* "compromised" *EDIT END* a few days ago (3 or 4)...  by some script kiddies (evidently) from the site hackeri.org (that site was plastered in the admin section for the cookies etc. and Hipki__ or some such nonsense is one of their "founders" and was on when it occurred...) ...  Side note, Vic did make some mods to close the primary hole they were using to get boosted access to the site...

The end result was they blast all the cookie etc. names in the main configuration (not to mention adding forums, changing headers ~ didn't anyone notice it now says "Unix Socket FAQ The saga continues..." at the top of the pages now... lol)

I happened to come on while they were doing it... and restored what I could (had to  *EDIT START* break in to the site the same way the no talent bastards did *EDIT END* to bring myself up to full admin level again ~ I am a bad human) but I did NOT know what the old cookie names were... and Vic didn't have them written down either... so long story short...  anyone who was on auto login previously will get at least prompted once when they come back since the old cookies are now invalid...

Maybe the new cookie name is too long or something...  if it continues, we can try shortening them and see if that helps...?

****
Appended:

I just changed the cookie information to names etc. more reasonable according to the phpbb docs...  that (may) clear up the problem...

Re: Login not remembered with Mozilla

Ah, yes, MUCH better, Michael!  Thank you for keeping me from going
insane having to re-login every time I visit! ;-)

Re: the cracking (don't abuse a good word like "hack" by associating it
with such scum), how incredibly lame...  Can't these delinquents put
their teenage angst to better use than attacking a site with no purpose
other than providing free programming help and info to people??  I
mean, that's beyond "senseless" and into plain old "fucking stupid"...
Ugh...  It's people like this that make everyone want to pass draconian
laws equating hacking/cracking with "terrorism", and allow Orwellian
monitoring of everything everyone does online...  Idiots...

Re: Login not remembered with Mozilla

But on my planet... crack always meant disk based stuff... as in removing copy protection...

I have edited my msg and changed it to a more appropriate term though... ;-)

Re: Login not remembered with Mozilla

Much better... ;-)

Nah, you can crack copy protection, or you can crack codes, or you
can crack sites...  Hell, you can even crack safes! ;-)  But, you never
hear of safe-hackers, do you? ;-)  I don't know what journalistic dip-shit
decided "hacker" was a good synonym for "computer criminal", but it
always pisses me off to see that good word corrupted... ;-/  (That's not
to say one can't still be a hacker and still do something criminal with
their skill; of course you can, but the two aren't synonymous, as the
media seems to think...  And, MOST of the kiddies being reported as
"hackers" are FAR from it...  My grandmother is a better hacker than
most of these lusers! ;-))
